Rangers Draft Czech (C) Dominik Lakatos

The New York Rangers selected Dominik Lakatos with the 175th pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. This draft pick may come as a surprise for most fans, because the Czech center is already 20 years old. This age is definitely higher then the usual 17,18,19 yr old draft picks in the NHL Entry Draft. Most players at this age will just end up signing a undrafted free agent deal with a NHL club. Gordie Clark and the rest of the Rangers brass must have saw a player they didn’t want to land on another team’s roster.

The 20 year old Czech center has seemed to succeed on every team he has played for, even earning Rookie of The Year as well as Most Points By A Junior Award in the Czech Extraliga. Some notable winners of Rookie of The Year for Czech Extraliga Tomas Plekanec, Milan Michalek, and most recently (the man who ended Marty Birons career) Tomas Hertl.
