The New York Rangers announced that Kaapo Kakko was out with an upper-body injury in the game against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday.

Late in the first period, he got involved with defenseman Alexander Romanov and went down pretty hard. Kakko had a strong period playing 6:16 before being removed.

Barclay Goodrow moves up to the second line and Alexis Lafrenière took Kakko’s spot on PP1.

Update: Kakko is day-to-day per Gerard Gallant (10:30 PM ET)
