Rangers went after Nick Leddy

Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

The Rangers acquired Andrew Copp, Tyler Motte, and Justin Braun at the deadline after previously trading for Frank Vatrano days before. However, it’s come to light that Drury went after Rickard Rakell, Calle Jarnkrok, and Mark Giordano before being outbid or looking elsewhere.

You can now add Nick Leddy as another player Drury went after on defense before deciding on Braun.

Rangers GM Chris Drury, we’re told, was in on Nick Leddy before the Red Wings sent the one-time Islanders defenseman to the Blues in a five-asset deal.

NY Post

The St. Louis Blues acquired defenseman Nick Leddy and Luke Witkowski from the Detroit Red Wings at the deadline in exchange for center Oskar Sundqvist, Jake Walman and a 2023 second-round pick.

Considering what the Blues gave up for the 31 year-old rearguard, I think the depth add of Braun for just a third-round pick is a better price for a rental.

NHL Rumors

The uncertain futures of Blackhawks players Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews will make for a very interesting summer. Plus Canadiens Jeff Petry trade talk. Read more.
