NYR Trade Rumors: Matthew Tkachuk

A few days ago Larry Brooks stirred the Blueshirts’ pot with this little blurb:

I have made it clear that I believe the Rangers need to do far more than improve on the margins. I believe they need to hunt for big game to change the dynamic of their top six, and yes, of course if there is any way to pry Matthew Tkachuk out of Calgary that should become Drury’s singular obsession. There is nobody, but nobody, who would be a better fit.

I get the idea that he’s laying out. The Rangers need a gritty and in-your-face player like Matthew Tkachuk who can also score. The issue is he’s a top six winger and whether you play him on the left or right wing he’s bumping out either LW Alexis Lafrenière, RW Pavel Buchnevich, or RW Kaapo Kakko.

Let’s not forget, Artemi Panarin is cemented at #1 LW and Kreider has a no move clause. Trading #20 wouldn’t be an easy salary to shed anyway. Also, what do you think it would take to get Tkachuk whom, I heard the Flames have ZERO desire to move? Are you trading Kakko and more to get him? This is just one of those rumors that sounds good but isn’t realistic.
