Rangers Roundup: Robertson signs, more trades, and Hartford call ups?

Robert Sabo

The Rangers made some moves and spoke about the roster yesterday.

Robertson signs

Rangers have high hopes for this prospect on defense. They expect him to challenge for a spot within the next 3 seasons.

More trades coming

Jeff Gorton was asked if the Namestnikov trade was being worked on for awhile or if it just came together. Gorton revealed he was talking with Ottawa for a long time as well as a lot of other teams about trades this summer. Take it as you will, but it sure sounds like he isn’t done dealing and the next forward out will likely be Ryan Strome. The Rangers want both Chytil and Kravtsov here playing top 9 minutes, not in Hartford.

Call ups?

It sounds like Gorton will go with a 21 man roster for now. According to his presser he doesn’t intend to make a call up for Saturday’s game versus Edmonton. I am still skeptical because Gorton said that the trade of Namestnikov was not only to clear cap space but to make room for kids. I’m going out on a limb and saying Chytil will be here Saturday.
