Report: Brian Boyle not interested in a PTO from the Rangers or any other team

Brian Boyle’s agent, Rick Curran confirmed with Forever Blueshirts that the Rangers as well as many other teams have reached out to his client. No contract was discussed, but Boyle’s agent made it clear, “Brian’s not interested in a PTO at this time.”

If the Rangers do add him, it will be to a standard contract. Per Larry Brooks, that doesn’t appear in the cards right now. They need to see what Brett Howden, Morgan Barron, and Kevin Rooney can do first before making that kind of decision.

Rangers reached out to Brian Boyle about possible return

Brian Boyle can do one thing very well, and that’s win key face-offs. The Rangers and several other teams have talked to the 36 year-old pivot about joining their respective clubs.

The Post has learned that the team has checked in with Boyle, who was one of the key forces through the team’s ascension at the start of the last decade. Let’s make it clear. A contract offer is not around the corner. As we understand it, management has advised Boyle that the team is taking a wait-and-see approach with the kids.

If Boyle does not sign anywhere and is still awaiting a call, it would not hurt to add him to the taxi squad on a deal for one year and under one million.

In 39 games for the Panthers last season he scored six goals and 15 points. Boyle would also be a vocal leader in the locker-room and help the 4th line and PK.
