Barclay Goodrow apparently didn’t lose any teeth in Ottawa last week, but instead spit out a piece of his jaw requiring a lot of stitches. Ouch!
“Liquids for a month,” Goodrow noted. “I am just trying to get the protein I need in a different form.”
Being the warrior that he is, Goodrow missed only one game and returned for the team’s thrilling 4-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday. In that contest, he played 14:29 and won 57.1 of his draws.

During the first period in a 6-2 loss to the Senators, K’Andre Miller tried to keep a puck in the zone by rushing up to the blue-line and lifting it into the corner. That’s when poor Goodrow’s face was right in the puck’s path, striking him square in the mouth. He dropped to the ice and spit out his bloody mouthguard along with what everyone suspected was a tooth at the time.
“Listen, that happens,” coach Peter Laviolette said afterwards. “Certainly we don’t like to see that. He’s an important part of our team for a lot of different reasons.”
Goodrow, 30, has 1 goal and 2 assists in 24 games this season. While his offensive production is down, the gritty forward is a key player on the Rangers PK units that ranks 8th in the NHL at 84.7%.
