K’Andre Miller makes Rangers roster

“I thought it was a very good pair. I thought Trouba was the best defenseman out there tonight,” David Quinn said after last night’s scrimmage. “I really like that d-pair – they certainly take up a lot of space.”

Indeed they do.

K’Andre Miller comes in at 6-5 and a massive reach. Jacob Trouba is right there with him at 6-3. When combined together, the wingspan of both defenseman along with their sticks cover a tremendous amount of ice in their own zone.

It now looks like they could be an opening night pairing. Jack Johnson and Brendan Smith will vie for the 6th and 7th spots on defense.

The fourth line is taking shape

New York’s fourth line will likely be Brendan Lemieux with Brett Howden or Kevin Rooney at center. Both Rooney and Howden can play the wing if need be. Phil Di Giuseppe looks like the 13th forward.

More to come later today.
