David Quinn not ready to reveal starter, and Artemi Panarin MVP finalist

The Rangers completed another energetic practice with Pavel Buchnevich in attendance who missed the last one due to undisclosed reasons. One hot topic coming into today was who would be the Rangers number one goalie.

David Quinn knows the starter, just won’t reveal it

As I anticipated today, Quinn would know who his starter is but would not be ready or inclined to do so. In fairness to all three of his goaltenders, he would need to speak with them in detail before they head out to Toronto later this week.

Artemi Panarin who led the Rangers with 95 points and was well on his way to possibly a 110 point season is now a finalist for the Hart Trophy. He is up for the NHL MVP along with Leon Draisaitl of Edmonton, and Nathan MacKinnon of Colorado. They are the same three finalists for the Ted Lindsay award.

This news broke as the Rangers were wrapping up practice today. The team paid their respects to Panarin’s accomplishments with stick taps at center ice. It was clear, Artemi was emotional.
