Let the games begin!

Yesterday, the NHL released the schedule for all teams. The New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers will face each other on October 17th or better known as the first of many battles between Jack Hughes and Kaapo Kakko. While the Rangers are focused on getting Kakko and the rest of their prospects ready for the NHL with their prospects camp and team building events like going to see the Yankees, the Devils focused on hyping Hughes and trolling on Twitter.

Getting Ready for the Season

There’s nothing wrong with hyping up a rivalry, and this was a pretty good troll job too. Still, as they pampered Jack Hughes with a jersey presentation (he will wear 86) and letting him meet the press, Kakko and Kompany were on the ice working on their game.

And while the Devils were putting Hughes on a pedestal and he was telling media that he doesn’t want to be the next Patrick Kane and he wants kids to be the next Jack Hughes (somewhere Wayne Gretzky was probably rolling his eyes), Kakko was bonding with future teammates like Vitali Kravtsov and Adam Fox.

Rangers play it cool, Fans strike back

The Rangers didn’t bother responding to the Devils tweet but fans on social media did. You can go Twitter search it for yourself, but here’s our response.

There is no doubt that the Hudson River Rivalry was just reloaded and refueled for a long war between the two franchises. The first battle is now just less than 4 months away. You ready? I know Kakko will be.
