As far as the pick goes, Jeff Gorton wouldn’t tip his hand but here’s what he told reporters.

Here is my take.

I can't tell you how that picking 2nd in this draft was the best possible outcome for the #NYR! In truth, the pressure is all on the #NJDevils to make the best selection between Hughes or Kakko. This is an absolute dunk for Jeff Gorton.
