Lundqvist to the Avalanche trade rumor? Yeah, that’s not happening

We are certainly getting closer and closer to the circus season in the NHL as the trade deadline approaches. Nearing the February 24th deadline you will see more and more of these articles from the dark corners of the internet to places like the Denver Post.

According to an article written by Mike Chambers from the Denver Post, he believes the Avalanche will be reaching out to acquire Henrik Lundqvist. His main reasons are because Colorado has the cap space and assets to get Lundqvist to consider waiving his no trade clause to play for a Cup contender.

Now when it comes to the Avalanche, there is no better beat writer/insider than Adrian Dater of Colorado Hockey Now. I reached out to him about this rumor and here is what he told me. “According to my sources nothing is in the works, or will be in the works, regarding a Lundqvist deal.” That should put this rumor to bed.

He Doesn’t Want to be Traded!

Of course, I am sure many will say he should consider it. Some will say the Rangers should force it. Just remember when the rebuild was announced he said “NO” to be trading.

“We told Hank that if he didn’t want to ride it out through this process, we’d find a good landing place for him,” Dolan said during a conversation at his MSG office. “But he said that he wanted to stay and see it through.”
