Marc Staal says “we will be back on the ice soon”

Marc Staal continues to spread optimism.

The air of positivity surrounding the resumption of the NHL season was echoed by Rangers defenseman Marc Staal. In an interview which aired last night on NBCSN, he said that “we’ll end up getting there, It’s just going to take a little more time.”

Staal on returning to play

“Everyone realizes what’s at stake here,” Marc Staal began. “We will get back out there when the time is right.” These sentiments were echoed earlier by NHL commissioner Gary Bettman who believes the league can play well into the summer since the Tokyo Olympics were cancelled. Staal finished by telling Rangers fans to stay safe and to “hang in there, we will be back on the ice soon.”

The truth is that there are still a lot of unknowns, but some recent statistics seem to show that efforts of social distancing are working. Maybe I am overly optimistic but if these trends continue we could see some things start to open up in May and the league getting back to at least training camp in June.
