Mats Zuccarello brings Game 5 inspiration to Washington tonight (NYR at WSH 7pm)
Mats Zuccarello is traveling with the team for Game 6 tonight at the Verizon Center. Aside from the emotional lift he gives the team with his presence, the fact that he’s on the road with the team speaks volumes about his progress.
[su_quote cite=”Record” url=”https://www.northjersey.com/sports/hockey/rangers-receive-a-boost-on-trip-1.1330598″]”He’s been in constant contact with everybody on the staff, from coaches to management to his teammates,” coach Alain Vigneault said. “He’s seen his teammates on a regular basis. He’s an upbeat person and we’d like him to be on the ice. He can’t be there right now to help us out. Hopefully he’ll be there soon.”[/su_quote]
In the meantime, the Rangers will need more vintage Lundqvist and hope the vintage Martin St. Louis returns tonight. It was his emotional Game 6 opening goal on Mother’s Day after losing his mom only day’s before that helped force a game 7.

The Rangers would eventually complete the comeback and make franchise history by being the first team to overcome such a deficit. Now they will have to do it again inc consecutive years to keep their Cup dream alive.
Mars Zuccarello accompanied Rangers to DC. Team says he is progressing. Otherwise no update on his status.
