Filip Chytil in NY Rangers lineup against Penguins

The New York Rangers got some good news today when a smiling Filip Chytil took the ice at the morning skate in Pittsburgh. In the team’s last game on Sunday, a 7-1 win over the Chicago Blackhawks, Sam Lafferty hit Chytil late, high, and hard knocking him out of the match. He was ruled day-to-day with an upper-body injury after the game.
The 23 year-old center told the NY Post’s Mollie Walker that he’s good to go for tonight. Chytil has been on a nice stretch with four goals and six points in his last six games heading into action tonight against the Penguins.
On the season, the former 2017 first round pick (21st overall) has 8 goals and 17 points in 25 games. His .68 points per game pace projects him out to a 50 point campaign. Chytil also needs just 7 more points to establish a new career high in points. He posted 23 points in 2019-20 with a career high of 14 goals.
Chytil is in the final year of a two-year contract that comes with a $2.3 million cap hit. He will be a restricted free agent with arbitration rights this summer.

The NY Rangers are riding a 7-game winning streak and currently hold third place in the Metro Division by a point over the Penguins.
A win tonight will not only extend their streak but start to build a cushion as one of the top three seeds in the Metro. It could also put the Blueshirts one point behind the New Jersey Devils and Carolina Hurricanes for first place.
Based on the morning skate’s line rushes, the lineup should remain unchanged from the last game.
- Panarin – Zibanejad – Goodrow
- Lafrenière – Chytil – Kakko
- Kreider – Trocheck – Vesey
- Blais – Brodzinski – Kravtsov
- Lindgren – Fox
- Miller – Trouba
- Harpur – Schneider
- Shesterkin
- Halak
Igor Shesterkin will be the starter and he’s yet to lose a game on the road in regulation this season. He’s 9-0-1 with a GAA of 1.98 and a .933 save percentage. For his career against the Penguins, the 26 year-old is 5-3-1 (GAA 2.11, SV% .924).
