Top New York Rangers players’ stats facing elimination in these playoffs
Here we go again! The New York Rangers are once again facing elimination in the playoffs.
This time it’s in the Eastern Conference Final against the two-time defending Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning. Currently they’re down 3-2 in the series, but are 5-0 when staving off elimination.
“We’ve been here before,” Mika Zibanejad said on Friday. “We’ve experienced it during these playoffs and regular-season as well. The more you do it the more confidence you get from it. We’ve been responding well and we know what we can do. We just have to go out and do it again.”

The Rangers came back from a 3-1 series deficit against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Round One. They followed it up with another series rally down 3-2 to the Carolina Hurricanes in Round Two.

Game 5 vs Penguins: Rangers roar back from a 2-0 deficit and win 5-3. Alexis Lafrenière and Jacob Trouba each record a goal and an assist to lead all scorers. Adam Fox scored the first goal of the contest.
Game 6 vs Penguins: Again the Rangers rally from an early 2-0 deficit for a 5-3 win. Adam Fox dazzles with four assists. Mika Zibanejad scores twice and adds two helpers on both Chris Kreider goals.
Game 7 vs Penguins: The Rangers complete the 3-1 series comeback led by Mika Zibanejad’s three point performance (1G -2A). Artemi Panarin wins the game with a power play goal in OT.
Game 6 vs Hurricanes: New York jumps out to a 3-0 lead and eventually a 5-3 victory. Filip Chytil’s two goals lead the way with Adam Fox recording two assists. Mika Zibanejad also added a goal.
Game 7 vs Hurricanes: The Rangers steamroll the Hurricanes in a 6-2 romp. Mika Zibanejad leads the way with three assists. Chris Kreider scored twice with Adam Fox and Andrew Copp each recording a goal and an assist.
“I’ve seen them do it all year long,” Gerard Gallant said heading into this latest elimination game. “It’s going to be a tough battle [in Tampa]. If you win that game you feel good going home. If you’re fortunate to win that game then you are going to the Stanley Cup Final. I like where we are at. I wish we would’ve won and been up 3-2 but it is what it is. We’ve been there two times before. Keep battling and let’s see what happens.”
When it comes to elimination games, the Rangers need Mika Zibanejad, Adam Fox, and Chris Kreider to lead the way.
