Conclusion

While the Rangers are a team with a deep, rich history as an Original Six team (and a large revenue driver for the NHL), it hasn’t come with as much playoff success as fans would like.

In fact, the Rangers have been passed in Stanley Cup numbers by 3 franchises that joined in the 60s and 70s. All 3 teams had dynasties of their own, while the Rangers have never put together consecutive years of Stanley Cup wins, even in the Original 6 era. 3 of the Rangers’ four Stanley Cups came between 1928 and 1940, which could be seen as a somewhat dynasty. However, there hasn’t been any sustained success since 1940, as the Rangers have only made the Stanley Cup Final 11 times in their 96 years – and won only 4 of them.

The last 10 years have been kinder to the New York Rangers, as they have made the playoffs 7 out of the last 10 years, and won 8 series. They’ve made it as far as the Stanley Cup Final once, Conference Finals twice, Conference Semi-Finals once, and have lost in the first round three times during that span.

With the recent firing of Head Coach Gerrard Gallant, Rangers fans are clamoring for championships while their team boasts names like Artemi Panarin, Adam Fox, and Igor Shesterkin. The team has a great mix of veterans like Chris Kreider, Mika Zibanejad, and team captain Jacob Trobuba, along with young players on the rise like Kappo Kakko, Alexis Lafreniere, and Braeden Schneider. They certainly can continue to compete for their fifth Stanley Cup for a long time.
