New York Rangers prospect report has Finnish theme to it this week

The New York Rangers have released their prospect report for February 22, 2021. In this edition two promising Finnish prospects lead the way in Lauri Pajuniemi and Tarmo Reunanen.

Below are excerpts from the official report provided to the media via the New York Rangers.

New York Rangers Prospect Report: Finnish Style

TARMO REUNANEN (D – 22 y/o, 4th Rd 98 overall 2016 Draft)

Season Stats – 4 GP, 2-2-4, -1, 0 PIM

  • Tallied an assist on Feb. 17 at Bridgeport
  • Has registered a point in three of Hartford’s four games this season

LAURI PAJUNIEMI (RW – 21 y/o, 5th Rd 2018 Draft)

Season Stats – 30 GP, 13-10-23, +8, 24 PIM

  • Recorded a goal/point in two of four games during the past week (two goals); registered 23 shot attempts in the four games
  • Has tallied a point in 18 of the last 23 games (12-9-21)
  • Since the start of last season, has recorded 63 points (39 goals, 24 assists) in 79 games in Liiga; leads the league in goals over the span

Nils Lundkvist leads way on other Euro prospects

NILS LUNDKVIST (D – 20 y/o, 1st Rd 28 overall 2018 Draft)

Season Stats – 43 GP, 10-14-24, +1, 16 PIM

  • Skated in three games with Lulea during the past week; recorded 10 shots on goal over the three games and logged at least 24:00 of ice time in two games
  • Ranks sixth in the SHL (ranks second among SHL defensemen) in shots on goal in 2020-21 (126)
  • Leads SHL defensemen in goals this season (10); ranks 19th among all SHL skaters in average ice time in 2020-21 (20:58)

Adam Edstrom (C – 20 y/o, 6th Rd 161 overall 2019 Draft)

Season Stats – 35 GP, 3-7-10, +8, 33 PIM

  • Tallied a goal and posted a plus-one rating on Feb. 18 against Djurgardens; posted a plus-one rating in two of three games during the week
  • Has recorded a point in four of his last seven games (2-2-4); has posted a plus-one rating in six of his last eight games

Impressive prospects with Wolf Pack

WILL CUYLLE (LW – 19 y/o, 2nd Rd 60 overall 2020 NHL Draft)

Season Stats – 4 GP, 1-2-3, +1, 0 PIM

  • Tallied an assist on Feb. 21 vs. Providence
  • Has tallied a point in three of Hartford’s four games this season

MORGAN BARRON (C/W – 22 y/o, 6th Rd 174t overal 2017 NHL Draft)

Season Stats – 4 GP, 2-1-2, +3, 0 PIM

  • Notched a point in each of Hartford’s two games during the past week; recorded his first career AHL assist on Feb. 17 at Bridgeport, and tallied a goal and tied for the game-high with four shots on goal on Feb. 21 vs. Providence
  • Has recorded a point in three of Hartford’s four games this season

AUSTIN RUESCHHOFF (RW – 23 y/o, undrafted)

Season Stats – 4 GP, 1-1-2, -2, 9 PIM

  • Tallied his first career AHL goal and recorded four shots on goal on Feb. 17 at Bridgeport
