NHL makes a solidarity statement by cancelling playoffs until Saturday

Reports are breaking that the NHL is cancelling playoff action today and tomorrow. This coming off the heels of the NHL players speaking with Evander Kane and Matt Dumba earlier today.

NHL cancels playoffs games

In a move of solidarity, the NHL has opted to cancel today and tomorrow’s Stanley Cup playoff action. All games’ original schedule times will shift by two days.

The decision was met positively by players. P.K. Subban put out this message as things were being finalized.

Many wanted the NHL to follow suit with the NBA yesterday, but the Islanders and Flyers were just concluding their game when it all went down. The league opted to move ahead with their schedule and it was met with criticism.

Evander Kane and HDA asked NHL to cancel

Evander Kane who is a founder of the Hockey Diversity Alliance called on the league to cancel today’s games.
