NHL Trade Rumors Roundup 2/14/20

We are officially 10 days away from the NHL Trade Deadline and experiencing what feels like a quiet time as we ramp up for next week. Traditionally, we should start to hear more from teams not previously mentioned and likely to get some trades later that week and into the weekend as well. Let’s see what’s the latest buzz.

Flyers Eyeing Toffoli

The Philadelphia Flyers who currently hold one of the last wild card spots in the East are looking hard at Tyler Toffoli of the LA Kings. The big winger would give the Flyers offense much needed depth and it makes sense on a number of levels. Expect the Kings to retain at least 50% of his salary in order to facilitate a trade as this rumor started about a week ago.

Matt Dumba for Alex Kerfoot plus?

The Leafs remain very interested in Wild defenseman Matt Dumba and may be willing to part with Alex Kerfoot and more to get him. Frank Russo of the Athlethic doesn’t think the Leafs have enough to land him with Tampa Bay possibly offering Anthony Cirelli. That is of course Minnesota wants to trade him.

Florida Likely Destination for Martinez

The more and more you look at the market and Alec Martinez, the more it seems likely he lands in Florida with the Panthers who are loaded with picks and prospects as Mark Easson notes here.

The Sabres Could Throw A Wrench at the Deadline

The Sabres are a mess. Aside from Jack Eichel and Rasmus Dahlin I am not sure anyone else is untouchable. I mean what would happen to the trade market if they committed to moving defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen? Or what about Jeff Skinner? Just note that Skinner has a no movement clause and would want out of Buffalo, which isn’t impossible to conceive. The goal for Buffalo is to make sure Eichel doesn’t want to leave.
