The Rangers announced that they have trimmed their training camp roster, this time sending five more players to Hartford.

Defenseman Sean Day was sent to the AHL club’s training camp along with forwards Nick Jones, Connor Brickley, Tim Gettinger, and Dawson Leedahl.

Jones had a very impressive audition with the big club, beginning in Traverse City and culminating with the only goal against the Flyers on Saturday night. Day is still recovering from offseason surgery, but you’d have to think the prospect is running out of chances with the Blueshirts. Brickley spent some time with the Rangers last season and is a likely call-up from Hartford if he’s needed. To me, Gettinger needs to take the next step this year with the Wolf Pack if he wants to be more than a fill-in player at the NHL level. As for Leedahl, this is his third season with the organization, and he hasn’t gotten past the AHL level yet.
