Rangers and Henrik Lundqvist struggle against hot Flyers

Henrik Lundqvist shows signs of rust and the Rangers defense didn’t help much either.

The Rangers certainly didn’t do Henrik Lundqvist any favors, but the rust showed as he battled the puck and put rebounds into the slot routinely. It was a big risk for David Quinn to start him after not having started a game since February 3rd.

Rusty Rebounds

The first Flyers goal was on the PP and it was a puck that squeaked through his legs and the Rangers defense struggled to pick up the man. But the 2nd PP goal completely was on Hank when he kicked a rebound from an angle right into the slot for an easy tap in.

The Flyers would also score a short handed goal off an odd man rush, and while it would’ve been one of those vintage Lundqvist stops, he was just a little off. Then early in the 2nd period the Flyers would go up by 4 when Hank was deked out of the net. A rough game all the way around for the team and a goalie trying hard to shake off rust. When it was all said and done Lundqvist would stop 21 of 26.

Some offensive bright spots

Mika Zibanejad would score two goals and Artemi added two assists to get his totals up to 90 points. Buchnevich would get the other goal, but the Rangers will need offense from their bottom six if they hope to get back on track. On the flip, Ryan Strome had a rough game and was benched in the third.
