This Rangers team has people thinking Cup thoughts again

They are getting solid performances out of unexpected players. Michael Grabner, Brandon Pirri, and even Jimmy Vesey have shocked Rangerstown.

The Rangers have been so dominant even without one of their best players in the lineup. Chris Kreider returned to the lineup against St. Louis and continued to be a force with 2 assists.

The Rangers just seem like a perfect fit for a long playoff run this postseason. The defense has improved from last season, and the offense is off the charts good. This team has gotten quicker and smarter, whether it’s with or without the puck.

Another top-notch part of the Blueshirts this season is the goaltending. The King has played well this season, despite giving up some easy goals. Backup goalie Antti Raanta has certainly improved from last season, making big saves and starting his season 2-0-0 with a .921 sv%.

Although all of this sounds great, there are still areas of improvement with this Rangers team. They will be complete once they acquire a big, physical, and offensive right defenseman. I don’t like the decision Alain Vigneault made to get rid of Dylan McIlrath, he was the only physical body on this Rangers team, I’d love to see him back on the Garden ice.

The Rangers could possibly be making the case that fans are able to call them the real deal, and legit team. The Rangers are currently the hottest offensive team in the league scoring 16 goals in their last 3 games. This team is super quick, and they have definitely improved their knowledge on the game of hockey.

Captain Ryan McDonagh has made a big statement not only with his defense but his consistent offense. He is currently one of the best defenseman in the NHL. Jimmy Vesey is also one of the league’s best scoring rookies, he has 6 goals tied for second in the NHL.

If the Rangers continue this dominance, where will we see them when the postseason comes around.
