David Quinn read a statement last night before opening his press conference. He said the team will wait in Denver until the league decides what actions they will be taking. At this time all options still under consideration as the NHL talks with the NHLPA and Owners.
Rangers earn dramatic point
It was a hard fought game that the Rangers should be proud to earn a point against one of the top contenders on the road. Mika Zibanejad opened the scoring, but the Avalanche took advantage of their PP opportunities to take a 2-1 lead all the way into the final seconds. That’s when Panarin and Buchnevich created some magic of their own.
The Rangers sit 2 points out of the last playoff spot with 12 games to go. Of course, we don’t know what the NHL plans on doing, but a suspension in play could mean the 12 remaining games could either be reduced or at worse gone and they could go right into the playoffs. If you want a hockey silver lining, Chris Kreider could be back when hockey resumes. The NHL direction is expected to come today.

- The Rangers earned their 79th point of the season. With 12 games remaining in the regular-season, the Blueshirts have eclipsed their points total from the 2018-19 season (78).
- The Blueshirts tied the game in the final minute of regulation (Pavel Buchnevich – 19:47 of the third period). The Blueshirts recorded the game-tying goal in the final minute of regulation for the first time this season; the last time they did so was on Apr. 5, 2019 vs. Columbus (Pavel Buchnevich – 19:53 of the third period).
- The Blueshirts outscored the Avalanche, 1-0, in the third period of tonight’s game. The Rangers have outscored opponents, 89-65, in the third period in 2019-20.
- Pavel Buchnevich recorded the game-tying goal in the third period and registered five shots on goal in tonight’s contest. Buchnevich extended his point streak to seven games (two goals, seven assists). Buchnevich has established a career-high in points this season (46).
- Artemi Panarin recorded an assist and tied for the game-high with six shots on goal in 25:59 of ice time. He has tallied a point in 16 of the last 18 games (five goals, 19 assists) and in 54 of the 69 games he has played this season. Panarin is tied for second in the NHL in assists (63) and is tied for third in the NHL in points (95) in 2019-20.
- Alexandar Georgiev made 25 saves, stopped 21 of 22 shots at even strength (including all 19 shots at 5-on-5), and stopped a penalty shot attempt in the third period.
