Rangers Lead The Way For Team Sweden

Lundqvist nets 4th Olympic shutout of his career.

Henrik Lundqvist stopped everything that came his way, as Team Sweden exploded for 4 third period goals against Slovenia. Carl Hagelin all shook off his bumps and bruises to score twice in that outburst to bring the Swedes one step closer to medaling.

ONE HENRIK IS ALL YOU NEED

Henrik Zetterberg is out of the tournament due to a herniated disc. Henrik Sedin didn’t even make the trip due to injuries he was already nursing. It doesn’t matter because the Henrik Sweden must have backstopped them to a 5-0 win today.

Slovenia goaltender Robert Kristan did his best as he was bombarded with 38 shots. Unfortunately for his and his Slovenian teammates, Henrik Lundqvist stopped all 19 shots he faced en route to his 4th career Olympic shutout. The game was 1-0 going into the third thanks largely to Kristan, but the floodgates opened in the final period to seal the deal.

HAGELIN SCORES TWICE

Rangers scoring alert! Carl Hagelin joins Ryan McDonagh as NYR to score in this tournament. Hags netted the final two goals in the third period onslaught. And he did on his only two shots of the game. Hagelin was a concern coming into the game as he was removed from the last one after sustaining a lower body injury. It was good to see him flying today.

Team Sweden awaits the winner of Finland v. Russia today at 7:30 AM.
