McDonagh on the NHL Network

New York Rangers Captain Ryan McDonagh joined NHL Tonight to talk about the offseason changes the team has underwent. Asked about the roster, McDonagh said “Pretty big turnover… two key guys that have been with me since the beginning of my time with New York, Girardi and Stepan, moving on to different teams. It will give us a different look as far as the veteran leader role. Guys will step up in that area.” On Shattenkirk, McDonagh added “He’s obviously wondrous with the puck and i’m looking forward to seeing him contribute to all areas of our game.”

Chiming in on Girardi’s departure as well as a slew of other topics, Henrik Lundqvist recently spoke with NHL.com’s Tom Gulliti saying “It’s going to be strange, I’ve seen that guy for 11 years and he is a guy you always know what you’re getting and he was so committed to playing a certain style in front of me, of course i’m going to miss him on the ice and especially off the ice (bro 🙁 …) But it’s part of the game.”

Lundqvist Back on Track

In the same discussion Hank asserted that he’s back on track in his offseason training after recovering from a Grade 1 MCL sprain in his left knee on the way to Sweden’s gold medal at the 2017 IIHF World Championship.

Having the knowledge now, that he played through that championship game after getting an accupuncture treatment and pain numbing injection (eeeekks the needles!)… I view the Nylander/Lundqvist celebration with a bit of a shriek now. (ouch)
