The New York Rangers are still doing their due diligence when looking for a coach. One potential candidate is former Avalanche coach Bob Hartley. When asked point blank about rumors, he provided an expected response.

Connor McDavid dreaming

Perry Nelson-USA TODAY Sports

Connor McDavid was eliminated last night by the Jets. After a 105 point regular season which McDavid himself said “means nothing,” they were swept. This has sparked trade talk from almost every hockey fan base, including the New York Rangers.

McDavid on Broadway is a dream. Matter of fact, it’s probably even Gary Bettman’s dream. The problem is there’s little chance the Oilers will trade the greatest player in their franchise history….AGAIN! Listen, I enjoy good speculation but unless McDavid publicly states trade me right now I just don’t ever see it happening.

Needless to say, I will dare to construct a trade package scenario later today.

Editor’s Note: Apparently some folks are bent out of shape by the line: The problem is there’s little chance the Oilers will trade the greatest player in their franchise history….AGAIN! – I’ll admit I probably should have added a word like current in front of greatest player just to be clearer. The point was Edmonton already traded away the greatest player the game has ever known in Wayne Gretzky so I doubt they would go down that road again. For those of you that have messaged me either on social media or the contact form, you may now go about your day looking for something else on the internet to make you angry. Thank you.
