Former GM and now TV Analyst Brian Burke gave his two dollars worth on Tony DeAngelo last night on Sportsnet. He began the segment by going off on Sam Bennett and his trade request, “you got some nerve asking for a trade.”

Burke cited Bennett’s current poor stats and adding that he’s “grumpy.” According to Burke, he needs to play better in order to get value back.

Brian Burke sounds off on Tony DeAngelo situation

“Whether you take a guy that’s got a reputation as a head case depends on the strength of your room,” Burke said. For anyone to take on Tony DeAngelo, that GM has to believe that the culture in the locker room can set him straight.

“I’m not sure that’s the case here,” Burke said pointedly. He then broke down the timeline of what went down with DeAngelo since his unsportsmanlike penalty and subsequent scratches.

Burke stated that if he was going to make a deal he’d request an interview with the player. “This kid is supposed to be well liked by his teammates, he’s not a problem in the room – he just has bad timing an no filter.”

Ultimately Burke said he wouldn’t trade for him.

Keith Kinkaid assigned to Hartford Whalers

The Rangers have moved Adam Huska to the taxi squad and Keith Kinkaid to the Wolf Pack. The 31 year-old net minder will wear the jersey #30 and is expected to start in today’s opener.
