Rangers Roundup: playoff odds, Chris Kreider and Jesper Fast’s swan song?

The latest news for the Blueshirts around the web. With the trade deadline tomorrow did we witness the last game for both Chris Kreider and Jesper Fast? Will anyone else be on the move? Let’s dive in.

Let the Decisions Begin

Chris Kreider had a more somber look after the Rangers big win against the Sharks last night. There was a moment where both he and Jesper Fast shared a hug alone on the ice that almost felt like foreshadowing. There are no shortage of suitors for Kreider’s services and last night rumors broke that Carolina are in on him too.

Now we will soon learn the fate of Chris Kreider and others. From what I’ve been able to gather, the Kreider contract negotiations got hung up on term initially. While both sides seem amicable on 6 years being the max, it is coming down to money. Rangers obviously looking closer to 6M and Kreider’s camp wants over 7M. If he gets moved by the deadline then obviously they couldn’t close the gap. However, if he doesn’t get dealt and an extension is not done, that is a good indicator both sides feel they can resolve before July 1st.

Bottom line is that the Rangers want to make the playoffs but their decisions to trade or not trade players will not be beholden to that factor alone. More trade deadline info coming later this morning so bookmark us.

Playoff Odds

Despite another big victory, the Rangers playoff odds took a hit with wins by Carolina and Philadelphia. Additionally the Jackets picked up a point in a shootout loss as well. According to Money Puck they dropped 2 percentage point to 30%.
