The ever classy Davidson did not want to get into his leaving New York too much. He explained how he had some options, including retiring but wanted to go back to Columbus. When asked about the timetable of his dismissal from the Rangers he noted that there were several conversation with owner, James Dolan.

“I had a respectful conversation with James Dolan,” JD said. “We decided to part ways.” There wasn’t much more than that with regards to his departure. What you can take away from his comments is that Dolan must have brought his views about the hockey club forward and JD didn’t agree. Ergo the decision to part ways.

Colin Stephenson of Newsday asked JD if he felt recently released Rangers coach was a candidate for the Blue Jackets job. Davidson praised Quinn’s character and his work with the Blueshirts. He also said that Columbus wouldn’t be doing their due diligence if they didn’t consider all coaches.

Both Davidson and Quinn are presented by the same agency, the Montag Group.
