The New York Rangers have just announced that forward Barclay Goodrow is on COVID-19 protocol and is out versus the Kings.

He joins head coach Gerard Gallant, assistant coach Mike Kelly and players, Igor Shesterkin, Ryan Reaves, and Julien Gauthier on the COVID list. Dryden Hunt is on IR.

Goodrow, 28, has 17 points in 36 games this season. He has six points in his last five games and was playing second line minutes.

Since joining the Blueshirts, Goodrow is as advertised. He’s been physical with his play and been a leader both on and off the ice.

“He’s a great leader, a great character guy,” Gallant praised Goodrow. “That’s what we want our kids to be. We want them to be consistent and play the game the right way. You learn from players on the ice and he’s a good example of how coaches want guys to play.”

Alexis Lafrenière will move to the second line RW.

Alexandar Georgiev gets the start.
