Report: Russian Prospect Linked To Rangers
CSKA Moscow forward Sergei Shumakov, who had previously been linked to the Rangers in weeks past, has reportedly been let go by the KHL club.
The soon to be 26-year-old right-winger scored 40 points (17G, 23A) for the KHL powerhouse, and added another four points (2G, 2A) in eleven playoff games. Shumakov also led the KHL in plus/minus last year at +28, tying with former Rangers draft pick Mikhail Pashnin.
Here is @aj_ranger‘s scouting report on the Russian forward.
Shumakov's a no-brainer for rebuilding #NYR club w/ cap space really. It's free scoring depth. Solid unit, soft hands, strong stride, good shot. He's tough down low and cycles the puck well. Another right-hand winger.

According to Rangers insider Larry Brooks of the New York Post, the Rangers won’t be pursuing Shumakov.
Told that Rangers are not going to sign KHL free agent winger Shumakov.
