Scouting Series: Rangers prospect K’Andre Miller

University of Wisconsin

The Rangers are set to kick off the 2019-2020 season next Thursday against the Winnipeg Jets. It is an extremely exciting time for the “Baby Blueshirts” and us as fans. It has been quite some time since we have seen a turnover of the roster like this. With prospects Kaapo Kakko, Vitaly Kravtsov, and Adam Fox likely to graduate and make the full-time NHL jump, the Rangers still have some top-notch prospects in the system waiting in the woodwork.

Two of those prospects are 2018 first rounders, K’Andre Miller and Nils Lundkvist. Miller was taken 22nd overall by the Blueshirts, followed by Nils Lundkvist at 28. Both of these kids have extremely promising futures ahead of them, and Lundkvist is already off to a hot start in Sweden. This year I will be covering K’Andre Miller and the exciting Wisconsin Badgers team. For those of you unaware about the Badgers aside from Miller, they recruited number 5 overall pick in the 2019 draft Alex Turcotte (LA Kings), number 15 overall pick (Montreal Canadians) Cole Caufield, and projected top-10 pick in the 2020 NHL draft Dylan Holloway.

Miller had a fabulous freshman campaign for the Badgers in 2018-2019. In 26 games, Miller had 22 points (5 goals, 17 assists) before his season was cut short from injury. Before the injury, Miller led all Badgers in scoring and was in some great company among former NCAA defensemen. Below is a chart from the @NYRStatsInfo

I fully expect Miller to have a standout sophomore season, as well as the entire Badger team. Below is a copy of their schedule so you can even check out K’Andre Miller and the rest of the Badgers play. I will also, likely be making a trip to Wisconsin this year to watch a Badger game.
