The Rangers currently sit in the 9th spot, but can jump all the way to 7th if they can just manage one more loss in this miserable season.

New York has 77 points with one game left, while Chicago (2) and Edmonton (1) have 76 points each. Here’s the remaining schedule:

CHI vs STL (4/6)

NYR @ PHI (4/7)

CHI @ WPG (4/7)

EDM vs VAN (4/7)

Per Tankathon the Rangers currently have a 16% chance of getting into the top 3 and a 5% chance at #1. If they finished in 7th, they can improve their odds to 20.4% and 6.5% respectively.

Other Finish Scenarios

Finish 10th with a win versus Philly, an Islanders loss and Chicago picking up less than 4 points.

Finish 9th with a win versus Philly, and an Islanders win, plus Chicago gaining 3 points or less.

Finish 8th with a loss to Philly, an Edmonton loss, and Chicago gaining 2 points. Or an Edmonton win and 2 Chicago losses.
