Vegas betting odds indicate Rangers have a good chance to win 2020 Stanley Cup

The playing field heading into these playoffs have been leveled. No team is going in on a hot streak. Almost all players are healed save for some season ending injuries to a handful. So handicapping the lines has been a challenge for a lot of betting sites, but one thing seems clear, the Rangers aren’t a long shot in the 24 team format.

Vegas Odds for the Cup

According to SportsLine the Rangers have the 15th best odds to win the Stanley Cup in the 24 team format.

The obvious favorites to win the Cup are Boston, Vegas, Tampa, St. Louis, Washington, and Colorado. For the Rangers it will be key if the NHL decides to reseed or stay with brackets. At the moment, should the Rangers get past Carolina in a qualifying play-in series, they will have to take on Washington due to bracketing. If they reseed, the Rangers may be forced to play Boston in the 1st round which is not a favorable matchup.

Rangers Can Do It

The bottom line, if the Rangers are going to win the Cup in this format it is going to take 19 wins instead of the usual 16. They have the offensive weapons to do it, and for the first time since probably the 90’s they have legit offensive game breakers. Both Artemi Panarin and Mika Zibanejad are the type of players that can score in those tight contests to win playoff games. Chris Kreider would probably not have been available due to a broken foot suffered in March, but is now fully healed. New York will need them, especially if they want to win the East which could require them to go through at least 1 of the top 3 in Boston, Tampa, and Washington.
