Wolf Pack Sign Shawn St. Amant to AHL Deal

This afternoon Chris Drury announced the signing of forward Shawn St. Amant.  The 21 year old signed an American Hockey League deal with Hartford.  He had both goals in the lone preseason game for the Wolf Pack.

“He got those two goals,” McCambridge said of his 6’0 forward. “On top of that, he also did a lot of good things away from the puck. (He) made good decisions in all areas of the ice, and put himself in a position to generate scoring chances.”

Last season, St. Amant spent time with the San Antonio Rampage and Colorado Eagles.  In AHL action with San Antonio, the forward played in 34 games registering four goals and 16 penalty minutes.

In ECHL action with Colorado, he played in 11 games notching two goals and six assists for 8 points.  He also recorded eight penalty minutes.

The signing of St. Amant is another young forward for Hartford.  If he has a strong enough year, he could possibly get signed by the Rangers next summer.  St. Amant had a strong training camp which head coach Keith McCambridge liked.  The hard work paid off as the talented forward stays in the organization.

“St. Amant play in the contest made his intentions loud and clear to remain in Hartford for next Friday’s opener against Providence.”

The signing brings up the number of forwards to 15.
