Zibanejad looking to return Wednesday provides vague injury update

Mika Zibanejad took part in today’s practice but David Quinn isn’t ready to let him go yet. As of right now per the coach, he is targeting a Wednesday return.

Getting Closer

It looks like the Rangers top center will make his return this week, after missing a month of action. As to what the injury is, well Zibanejad wasn’t saying.

I asked Mika if he could tell us what the injury was. He declined.
"I don't want to go into details, but I think you guys can figure out — it was an upper body, so, I'm not going to go into more details than that.''

Mika’s comments today do lend to speculation that this wasn’t just a neck injury and possibly a concussion. As we have been writing, there are at least 5 documented concussions in his career. The NHL is sounding more and more like the NFL everyday with regards to injury reports.

Just had the first extended convo with Mika in a few weeks. He’s said he’s going to have to talk to coaches and trainers before it’s determined if he’ll play. He didn’t want to go into details on the specifics of the injury. Have to respect his privacy. #NYR
