Jesper Fast and other top NHL unrestricted free agents

The NHL Trade deadline is over! Now it’s time to start preparing for the draft and Free Agent Frenzy. While we hope to eventually continue to cover the Rangers playoff chase, another eye will be kept on prospects and NHL Free Agents. So make sure to bookmark us because no one is going to keep you up to date better.

Rangers Plans

Jesper Fast was not traded away at the deadline as a rental. The Rangers obviously value what he brings, but will they have money to sign him? At this time, it’s safe to assume the Rangers have a lot of housekeeping to address before even contemplating the UFA market. Jeff Gorton needs to determine what to do with Henrik Lundqvist and see what cap space he can gain from a possible trade or buyout. Then the focus will be on re-signing all 4 RFA’s and determining which prospects they are ready to integrate into the lineup, like Vitali Kravtsov. However, as they say, stranger things have happened so let’s look at the list.

Top NHL Free Agents 2020

It is always interesting to look at the free agent landscape. Of course, there is now talk about not raising the salary due to lost revenue from having to postpone the season. Here’s a list of the Top 25 per Cap Friendly:

Cap Friendly

The list will change if anyone is extended before 7/1. There are some really big names on here and none bigger than Taylor Hall. His name popped back up at the trade deadline, but Pierre Lebrun squashed it saying the team is working towards an extension. Still, should that not happen in time and he hits the open market…well, all bets are off.
