Darren Dreger last night confirmed what we’ve been saying for awhile, the Leafs (and other teams) have kicked the tires on Georgiev. He did note that although they talked with the Rangers, no formal offers were made.
Situation Update
This morning, Dreger was on the radio show First Up to discuss the situation further. He stated that after the tweet his contact from the Rangers touched base with him about Georgiev. Here are the key takeaways from his comments:
- A lot of teams have inquired on Georgiev
- Kyle Dubas spoke with Jeff Gorton, no official offer was made
- Rangers want a significant package for Georgiev IF they decide to move him
- Dreger doesn’t feel that is the right fit for the Leafs
Of course, the interview goes on to discuss the Leafs need help on defense and Kasperi Kapanen is likely the forward they are willing to part with in a trade.
