Lias Andersson’s stock rises notching 5 points for his SHL club today

Lias Andersson is back to raising some eyebrows among the hockey world. The Rangers once disgruntled first round pick in the 2017 draft is in Sweden and making NHL teams take notice.

HV71 crushed Hemma Linkoping today 7-2 on the strength of Lias Andersson‘s two goals and three assists. That brings his goal totals up to five in just six preseason games.

This is the best thing to happen for the Rangers since they day decided to loan him to HV71. Andersson has seemed to find his game and has earned his role as the team’s second line center. In the 15 games he played for them last season, Lias notched 12 points before COVID cancelled the league.

Should Andersson continue to prove himself, the Rangers will find more than a few willing trade partners at the draft in October.

Other Rangers prospect news

Finnish prospect, Leevi Aaltonen scored a goal and assist in his pre-season game in Liiga. We spoke with Leevi in May and he provided us some insights from last year’s prospect camp and has game.

I learned a lot during those weeks, and I still talk to the other Finnish players who were there,” he said. “I have always been the fastest skater on my teams and it is the result of hours and hours of work as a kid, focusing on my technique“. Ranger fans have often compared him to Carl Hagelin, but Aaltonen doesn’t want to compare him to other players. He wants to be Leevi Aaltonen, and his goal is of course to make it to the NHL one day.
