The NY Rangers will be seeking their first win since they beat the Anaheim Ducks 6-4 on October 17. After today’s practice, they will board a flight to Dallas to take on the Stars this Saturday.

Heading into that contest, both Vitali Kravtsov and Filip Chytil were listed as injured.

Today, they each participated in practice but only one of them will join the Rangers for their two-game road trip.

Chytil, 23, has 2 goals and 1 assist through six games. He was averaging 14:52 of ice time before getting hurt in the first two minutes of a 5-1 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets last Sunday.

On the play, Cole Sillinger’s elbow appeared to hit a turning Chytil up high to the head. He was down for awhile and left the game immediately and listed as out for the week with an upper-body injury.

His participation at practice today was unexpected, but a decent sign for a return next week.

“It was good news he had an almost full practice,” Gerard Gallant said regarding Chytil. “But he didn’t feel good at the end, so we’ll be safe and not take him on the trip.”

Chytil was drafted in the first round of the 2017 Draft (21st overall). He had a difficult season with just 22 points in 67 games in 2021-22, but came alive in the playoffs with 7 goals in 20 games.

In other news, Vitali Kravtsov will be joining the team on the trip to Dallas and Arizona.

“He’s cleared to play,” Gallant updated on Kravtsov.

Kravtsov, 22, suffered an arm injury during the team’s 3-2 shootout loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday. He has no points in 3 games this season but played over 10 minutes in the team’s last two games.

Recently recalled forward Julien Gauthier took his spot in the lineup against the NY Islanders on Wednesday and looked good. He utilized his size and speed to garner several scoring chances.

Based on multiple reports, Gauthier will remain in the lineup while Kravtsov is looking like a healthy scratch for Saturday.
