Ryan Strome missing from roster on Rangers website, is something going down?

The Rangers website was updated overnight after all the signings made in day one of free agent frenzy. Whether this is intentional or an oversight, it does seem odd.

Ryan Strome not on Rangers website

The Rangers are showing a 23 man roster currently on their website after making 8 signings. At forward, recently qualified Phil Di Giuseppe and Brendan Lemieux are there. Further perplexing is the inclusion of newly signed Kevin Rooney, who also is given the #16.

Where’s Strome?

Remember, after the draft Jeff Gorton fully admitted he was trying to trade Strome and that’s why he waited until almost the deadline to qualify him. So is something brewing today? We may find out soon.

From signings to trades?

General Managers spent day one of free agency making a ton of low level signings. A massive amount of one and two year deals were given out, and only a handful of deals over four years. Matter of fact only one 7 year deal was given out and that was late to Torey Krug from the Blues.

Today could be the day teams now start making trades after tackling the market yesterday. One team to watch are the Vegas Golden Knights who are believed to land Alex Pietrangelo. If they don’t they could circle back on DeAngelo. One team who was rumored, the Ducks signed Kevin Shattenkirk yesterday so they are likely out.

As for Strome, maybe the Rangers are trying to land a legit second line center via trade. Maybe the groundwork was laid at the draft and yesterday was used to see what other teams would do and what kind of money was going to be given out. Maybe today, Strome is moved.

Or maybe that’s just an oversight on the team’s website.

P.S. Jack Johnson was not listed on defense but Anthony Bitetto was. So I am thinking it’s an oversight….or maybe it isn’t. Should be a fun day.
