New York Rangers prospect report highlights the return of Vitali Kravtsov

The New York Rangers have released their prospect report for November 2, 2020. In this edition, Vitali Kravtsov’s two goals in two games since returning from injury is the spotlight.

Below are excerpts from the official report provided to the media via the New York Rangers.

New York Rangers Prospect Report: Welcome back Vitali Kravtsov

  • Vitali Kravtsov recorded eight shots on goal in three games during the past week. The Rangers’ first round pick (ninth overall) in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft has recorded 10 points (eight goals, two assists), a plus-seven rating, and 58 shots on goal in 16 KHL games with Traktor this season. Kravtsov has notched a point in eight of the 16 games he has played in 2020-21, including a goal in seven of the 16 contests. He has also recorded four or more shots on goal in eight of the 16 games he has played this season, and he has either led all skaters in shots on goal or has tied for the game-high in shots on goal in six of the 16 contests.

A Finnish Future on the Rangers blue-line

  • Tarmo Reunanen registered five assists/points in two games during the past week; he tallied three assists on Oct. 29 against FPS, and he notched two assists, led all skaters with 12 shot attempts, and posted a plus-one rating in 23:14 of ice time on Oct. 30 against K-Vantaa. The Rangers’ fourth round pick (98th overall) in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft has registered nine points (two goals, seven assists), a plus-seven rating, and 48 shot attempts (29 of which were on goal) in seven games with TUTO Hockey in Mestis (Finland’s second-highest professional league) this season, and he has also averaged 23:51 of ice time per game in the seven contests.

  • Oliver Tarnstrom tallied two points (one goal, one assist), including the game-winning goal, and posted a plus-two rating to help AIK’s J20 team defeat Timra’s J20 team on Nov. 1. The Rangers’ third round pick (92nd overall) in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft has registered eight points (four goals, four assists) and a plus-six rating in 12 games with AIK’s J20 team in J20 Nationell this season. Three of Tarnstrom’s four goals in 2020-21 have been game-winning goals, and he ranks second in the J20 Nationell Norra Division (and is tied for third among all players in J20 Nationell) in game-winning goals this season.

New York Rangers Euro Prospects

  • Karl Henriksson is expected to represent Sweden and play with their U20 team in three games against Finland’s U20 team during the upcoming week from Nov. 5 – Nov. 7. The Rangers’ second round pick (58th overall) in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft has registered three assists, 12 shots on goal, and a plus-one rating in 11 games with Frolunda in 2020-21, and he has averaged 14:37 of ice time per game in the 11 contests.
  • Adam Edstrom tied a single-game SHL career-highs with two points (one goal, one assist) and a plus-two rating, established a single-game SHL career-high with six shots on goal, and tied for the game-high with four hits on Oct. 27 against Farjestad.

  • Jacob Ragnarsson tallied an assist and posted a plus-one rating to help Timra win its game on Nov. 1 against Almtuna. The Rangers’ third round pick (70th overall) in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft has recorded one assist and has posted a plus-four rating in 10 games with Timra in Allsvenskan this season.
  • Olof Lindbom earned a win in each of his two appearances during the past week. The Rangers’ second round pick (39th overall) in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft has posted a 4-0-1 record, along with a 2.43 GAA and a .913 SV% in six appearances with Mora in Allsvenskan this season. Lindbom has only allowed five goals at 5-on-5 in his six appearances thus far in 2020-21.
  • Lauri Pajuniemi recorded an assist and registered three shot attempts (two shots on goal) in 17:45 of ice time on Oct. 30 against KooKoo; the contest was his first in nearly four weeks after suffering a thigh injury on Oct. 3. Pajuniemi also registered four shot attempts (two of which were on goal) and led all forwards on TPS with 20:12 of ice time on Oct. 31 against HIFK. The Rangers’ fifth round pick (132nd overall) in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft has registered one assist and 16 shot attempts (11 of which have been on goal) in four games with TPS in Liiga in 2020-21.
  • Leevi Aaltonen recorded eight shot attempts (six shots on goal) in 21:55 of ice time over three games during the past week. The Rangers’ fifth round pick (130th overall) in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft has registered one assist and 17 shot attempts (12 shots on goal) in eight games with KalPa in Liiga in 2020-21.

New York Rangers North American prospects

  • Braden Schneider was invited to Canada’s National Junior Team Selection Camp in advance of the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship during the past week. The Rangers’ first round pick (19th overall) in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft skated in 60 games with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League (WHL) last season, registering seven goals and 35 assists for 42 points, along with a plus-nine rating and 42 penalty minutes.

  • Matthew Robertson was invited to Canada’s National Junior Team Selection Camp in advance of the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship during the past week. The Rangers’ second round pick (49th overall) in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft registered 47 points (13 goals, 34 assists) and a plus-five rating in 60 games with the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League (WHL) last season.
  • Dylan Garand was invited to Canada’s National Junior Team Selection Camp in advance of the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship during the past week. The Rangers’ fourth round pick (103rd overall) in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft appeared in 42 games with the Kamloops Blazers of the Western Hockey League (WHL) last season, posting a 28-10-3 record, along with a 2.21 GAA, a .921 SV%, and 4 SO.
  • Matthew Rempe was added to the roster of the Spruce Grove Saints of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) until the start of the Western Hockey League (WHL) season, and he tallied an assist in his first exhibition game with Spruce Grove this year on Oct. 30 against Sherwood Park. The Rangers’ sixth round pick (165th overall) in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft played with Spruce Grove during the 2018-19 season, registering 12 points (four goals, eight assists) in 43 games.
